Tiger Woods won the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup. He didn't even have to show up and play the Tour Championship to have won the FedEx cup because he was so far ahead in the standings. He's a freak of nature that will continue to win the cup no matter how many changes are made in the scoring method over the coming years. Unless they change the rules to say that Tiger Woods must play blindfolded he's going to continue to win--and I still would bet on Tiger with a blindfold on. Big ups to Tiger.

Tiger Woods won his seventh straight PGA Tour start by winning the Buick Open yesterday. Tiger was quick to point out that his is not a worldwide streak, as he lost a match play tournament in Europe, and came in second place in tournaments in Chile and Japan.
Still, this is an amazing feat considering that many pro golfers have seven wins for their whole career, let alone seven in just one year. Tiger now has 55 PGA Tour wins (77 total) since starting his pro career in 1996. In contrast, Phil Mickelson, the #2 ranked player in the world, has 29 PGA Tour wins (33 total) since turning pro four years earlier in 1992. Damn.

Tiger Woods won his fifth straight tournament this weekend. Keep in mind that many pro golfers go months or even years between victories. This latest win brings his win percentage this year to a staggering 50 percent. That's amazing!
The big story of this year's PGA Championship is that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will play head-to-head in a threesome that will also include Geoff Ogilvy. The three are the winners of the British Open, The Masters, and the U.S. Open respectively and historically the winners of the first three majors of the year start together at the PGA Championship. Whether they all finish together is another story. In any case, it should be fun to watch the top two players in the sport go head-to-head. Stay tuned.
Golf phenom, Michelle Wie, withdrew after nine holes on Friday due to exhaustion. This girl obviously needs to take it easy. She's sixteen and is furiously trying to make a PGA cut by playing every single day and flying to tournaments every other week. There's no need for that. Just chill Michelle, if you make the cut at 17 or 18 it's still an amazing record!
Michelle Wie won a local qualifier as the first step to qualifying for the men's U.S. Open Championship event. The 16-year-old golf star will have to place high in the standings at the U.S. Open sectional qualifier next month to qualify. Stay tuned.
Not since Tiger Woods has there been such an amazing junior golfer. Michelle Wie is a 13-year-old girl from Honolulu, Hawaii. She is 6-feet tall and can drive a golf ball 280 to 320 yards (not a typo). She has already qualified for several LPGA events and even got to the final group at the Nabisco Championship, an LPGA major, in March of this year. She is the youngest USGA tournament champion and has her eyes set on The Masters (again, not a typo). She says that her dream is to play on the PGA Tour, not the LPGA. Geez, what are they feeding these kids!?
Some golfers go their whole lives without hitting a hole-in-one. This old guy hit two in a row--on consecutive holes. Incredible.
Melissa and I went to Napa today with Otto and Ilka where we played the Chardonnay Vineyards Golf Course. The course was amazing! Vineyards lined the fairways and the picturesque views were absolutely breathtaking. If you are ever in the area you should check it out.
My team came in dead last in our tournament with a score of +10 in a four-man best-ball scramble. The good news is that there was a pretty cool prize for last place--a Tiger Woods bobble-head and my very own USGA Rules of Golf book, funny. I guess I could get better at golf, but I'd rather my wife not be a golf widow.
Xbox Hack
Xbox modification chips are available for the Xbox--this will let you play "backups" of Xbox games. A friend of mine just installed one he got from Chipzone and says it's pretty awesome, he's already played a couple of backups without any problems. The installation is not trivial though, so only experts should apply.

Wow, it was a really busy week at work--this explains the lack of posts in the latter half of the week (see earlier "Busier Than..." post).
Golf, Schmolf
I haven't played a round of golf in months, but nonetheless, I will be participating in a Gap Inc. tournament tomorrow. Wish me luck--I am gonna need it. Damn, it's almost 1AM, I better go to sleep.
Farewell, Jess
Melissa and I attended a last farewell get together for Jessica and Chuck Beringer on Thursday night. We were sad to see them leave to return to Virginia but we may take them up on the invitation to visit them soon. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to save the pictures from the camera, but once I do, I'll post them both in the blog and on the front page.
