AOHell: Cancel if You Dare Bitches

I've always hated AOL, and apparently my hate for the company was well-founded. Last month, there was a recording of a call made by a guy named Vincent Ferrari trying to cancel his AOL account that was nothing short of appalling. Yesterday, the Consumerist revealed the icky AOL Retention Manual used by the douche bags answering the phone there as well as a breakdown of the Vincent Ferrari phone call. Apparently, AOL doesn't realize that today business is about being crazy customer-focused, not focused on making the customers crazy.

AOL Spam Scheme Foiled

AOHell users are always wondering why they get so much spam. Well, one reason is because an AOL employee was selling the user list to fucking spammers! An AOL software engineer was arrested after it was found that he sold the entire AOL user list to a Las Vegas spammer for an undisclosed sum and later sold an updated user list to the same spammer for $100,000. Damn, I fucking hate spammers! We should all be happy that these bitches got caught.

The guys that started collecting AOL CDs to give back to the company (see previous blog) less than a month ago already have about 80,000 of them. Their hope is that when they reach 1,000,000 CDs they'll show up at AOL headquarters and dump them sayin', "You've got mail." Sweet. At this rate these guys will have 1,000,000 CDs in only about seven to nine months.

AOL used to send floppy disks to entice people to subscribe to its service. These weren't so bad because you could always erase the contents of the floppy and store data on it. There was always one nearby--I didn't buy floppies for years. However, AOL now uses CD's that cannot be reused. These two guys want to collect 1,000,000 CDs to dump in front of AOL headquarters and let them know to stop the insanity. Help 'em out if you can. Thanks to Masher for the article.
